LORD WHY CAN'T I FOLLOW YOU NOW

JESUS PREDICTS PETER’S DENIAL JOHN 13:36-38

“Where are you going, Lord?” Simon Peter asked him. “You cannot follow me now where I am going,” answered Jesus: “but later you will follow me.”

“Lord, why can’t I follow you now?” asked Peter. “I am ready to die for you!”

Jesus answered, “Are you really ready to die for me? I am telling you the truth: before the cock

crows you say three times that you do not know me.”

In his divine economy, God has honored his creatures most especially his rational ones by giving them each, according to his ability, a part of his own work to do, by participation in his own divine activity. Venerable Solanus Casey

THE NEW COMMANDMENT

 JOHN 13:31-35 

After Judas had left, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man’s glory is revealed; now God’s glory is revealed through him. And it God’s glory is revealed through him, then God will reveal the glory of the Son of Man in himself, and he will do so at once. My children, I shall not be with you very much longer. You will look for me; but I tell you now what I told the Jewish authorities, ‘You cannot go where I am going.’ And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.”

Jesus predicts his death

Father in Heaven, I thank you for your great mercy in sending your Son Jesus Christ. By His sacrifice on the cross, he gave himself a ransom for my sin. He gave himself to save me from the power of evil, and from destruction. Help me Lord Jesus Christ to live a life of sacrifice and love for my fellow being.
